“INTELLIGENCE IS CATEGORICAL”

“INSANITY IS CONTAGEOUS”

“A High Percentage of Stupid is Stubborn”

In the beginning, there was The Book of Genesis. And it was good. Only much later did different people think of it in different ways”. (Cover of Time Magazine, October 1996)

This is “The Creation”, as presented by the Torah, the Hebrew 5-book origin of The Old Testament. The King James and Catholic versions both came, Chapter and Verse, from The Torah. I, Gary DeVaney, took specific, controversial C&V selections from each of these 3 sources in my investigation and documentation of this work.

Question: Perceive that there was no book of Genesis. What would the creationists have then?

Perspective: Nothing. Without Genesis, practicing Christians have no basis for creationism, unless they wish to steal any of the hundreds of other creation stories from other cultures. The Genesis story is totally stolen from other cultures, but, practicing Christian creationists will never admit it.

Genesis chapters 1 & 2: There are two conflicting versions of:

“The Creation”

To have a Creation, you must have a Creator.

Ok. Who Created God?

1st Day

Genesis 1:1 God created Heaven and Earth.

Genesis 1:2 & 1:9 both state: The Earth was covered by water first.

Genesis 2:6 states: The Earth was land first; a stream came up watering the ground.

A contradiction? Genesis 2:6 conflicts with Genesis 1:2 & 1:9 – water 1st, not land 1st.

Genesis 1:3 Then, God said: Let there be light.

What? There was light on the 1st day? How? When you learn that God doesn’t make the Sun and the Moon until the 4th day as documented in Genesis 1:14-17, you may realize and acknowledge that this is a Bible contradiction.

Before creation, if God had existed forever, did God grope around in the dark before God said: “Let there be light”? If the unchanging God could see in the dark and man is created in God’s image, 1st, after all that time, why did God need light – and 2nd, why can’t man see in the dark? Are you positively certain that man did not create God?

2nd Day

Genesis 6:8 God separated the water on Earth with the sky.

What? God spent a whole day of creation to do what?

3rd Day

Genesis 1:9 God separated dry land from the seas.

Genesis 1:11 God made vegetation.

Did God make vegetation before God made man?

4th Day

Genesis 1:14-17 God made the Sun and the Moon.

Sun & Moon

So, where did the light come from on the 1st day according to Genesis 1:3 when God said: Let there be light? If the Sun was not created until the 4th day, how was a 24-hour day determined? The Bible is not a well-written book.

Genesis 1:31 God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.

The perfect, all-knowing Biblical God was pleased with His “perfect” creation. But later:

Genesis 6:5-6 God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the Earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.

The perfect, all-knowing Biblical God repented and was sorry that He had made man? This supernatural Biblical God, that has been in existence forever, has a heart?

5th Day

Genesis 1:20-22 God created living sea-monsters and flying-creatures.

Isn’t it interesting that no species of Dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible? The word Behemoth is mentioned but that is a poor representation of all the awesome Dinosaur fossils discovered along with other pre-historic animals. Science claims that today, over 99% of all life-forms that ever existed on Earth are now extinct. If so, what does that say about the Biblical God, – the creator?

Over 99% of all of “God’s Created Species” have gone Extinct?

6th Day

Genesis 1:24-25 God created land animals.

Behold! Here God created “land animals” first before God created man.

Genesis 1:26 God said: Let US create man in OUR image.

Who did the Biblical God say this to? Obviously, God was not alone.

Genesis 1:26 God instructed man to dominate and subdue the Earth and it’s life-forms.

Is God’s documented instruction the basis for man’s domination and future terrorism over all of Earth’s life forms – including other men? Does the Biblical God-character prove to be a terrorist who inspired a terrorist handbook called the Bible? Will God have men murdering men in the future?

Genesis 1:27 God created man, male and female.

Were Adam and Eve the first Human Beings created on Earth?

God Created Man

TV Pastor Arnold Murray claims: No! Human Beings – not Adam and Eve – were of “The 6th Day Creation“.

Pastor Murray claims that Adam and Eve were created special on the 8th day to begin a genetic lineage for Jesus Christ. I never heard that in church.

Murray often does go where no man has gone before in my judgment. Yes, I do make judgments. Do you make important decisions without using judgment? Would you teach your child to cross a busy street without using judgment?

If Human Beings were created on the 6th day, what source is documented to have explained to them the events of the 1st 5 days? If God explained it to them, why wasn’t that important enough to be documented? Without learned language, how did Adam and Eve communicate and understand God or themselves?

Genesis 1:28 God commanded for man to conquer and to dominate everything on the Earth.

God Said
Conquer & Dominate

God’s Biblical commands validate why men become tyrants. The Holy Bible is quickly shaping up to become a tyrant and a terrorist handbook, if you could dare to see it that way.

7th Day

Genesis 2:3 God ceased from all work on the 7th day.

Does the Biblical God need sleep? Why would God stop or need rest? God is all-powerful, isn’t He?

2 Peter 3:8 One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in God’s sight is like a day.

Did God rest for 1 Earth Day or for 1,000 Earth Years?

Unlike Pastor Arnold Murray, who claims that Adam and Eve were created on the 8th day and were not the first Human Beings, most clergy view that Adam and Eve were the first Human Beings created on the 6th day.

The Bible claims that Adam was formed out of clay and that Eve was formed from one of Adam’s ribs. How scientific are those specific claims?

God formed Eve from one of Adam’s Ribs?
Do Men Today Miss A Rib?

How can a logical, reasonable person not question the validity of the Bible?

Most practicing believers believe the Bible documents that Adam and Eve were created on the 6th day.

If Adam and Eve were actually created on the 6th day and God was out of the picture for the whole 7th day / 1000 Earth years, then Adam and Eve had to be over 1000 Earth years old when God worked with them again. But Genesis 5:5 documents that Adam lived only 930 years. Does anyone else find this contradictory and confusing?

In this 1st version, God created man and woman simultaneously and equal on the 6th day. Animals and everything else already existed.

Note: Bible input deems that Mankind was created about 6,000 years ago.

The 2nd Version

Genesis 2:5 No shrubs or plants existed; no rain, no man yet to work the ground.

Genesis 2:7 God formed Man out of the ground.

What? In this 2nd version, man was formed out of the ground before God made plants and animals? This Biblical myth is also doubtful because what would man eat?

1st, science proves that a Human Being cannot be formed in a 24-hour-day out of mere Earth dirt.

2nd, science proves that a living woman cannot be formed in a 24-hour-day merely out of a man’s rib.

Q: A believer asked: Why did you write these 2 obvious absurdities?

A: Because the Bible claims these absurdities and practicing Judeo-Christian believers claim to believe the absurdities of the Bible. If there was more to the story, then the Bible is poorly written and sorely lacking in understandable structure and content. The Bible, so far, shows no logical or reasonable merit. Why do believers insist on believing this extreme nonsense? Why do they then impose their nonsensical beliefs on others?

Genesis 2:7-9 does conflict with Genesis 1:11 & Genesis 1:27. How can believers believe in a Bible that proves to conflict with Itself?

Of course, “I believe” ultimately admits that “I don’t know”. If one absolutely knows, one says “I know”. If a believer’s belief is proven to them to be false, the believer then claims, I said that I believed it. I did not say that I know it. Why would anyone follow or buy into another’s “I don’t knows”?

Some “authorities” claim that the “J” (Jehovist / Yahweh) version and the “E” (Elohim) version are from two schools of authorship, not from two individuals. “J” was from Judea / Jerusalem and “E” was from northern Israel. Two additional sources were the Deuteronomist “D” and the Priestly “P”. “R” then combined all four sources into the first four books of the Torah into Deuteronomy, the fifth book.

Many give credit to Moses for writing the Torah’s content. The Torah’s C&V contents do not claim Moses to be its author. Moses’ birth and early life was associated with Egypt.

Egypt was one of the ancient cultures that started a myth of creation. The Hebrews / Jews did not buy into Egypt’s version of creation nor anyone else’s afterlife myths. With the Hebrews it was simply “dust to dust.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon (modern day Iraq) captured Jerusalem and destroyed its temple in about 586 BC. Nebuchadnezzar killed many Jews and took some captured Jews back to Babylon.
In 539 BC, King Nebuchadnezzar had died. His heirs ruled Babylon. Persian King Cyrus from modern day Iran conquered Babylon. He freed the Jewish captors, provided them security and escorted them back to Jerusalem.
Then the Persians spent 2 centuries (200 years) assisting the Jews in rebuilding their temple.   Zoroastrian clergy accompanied the Persian army. The Zoroastrianism religion taught about afterlife, Heaven, Hell, salvation and “Eternal-Torment” all of which the Jewish priests wanted nothing to do with. However, a few Jews made records of these teachings. Centuries later a new Jewish prophet taught about afterlife, Afterlife, Heaven, Hell, salvation and “Eternal-Torment”. The prophet’s name was Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ plagiarized and preached Zoroastrian teachings. The New Testament claims that Jesus created a new religion called Christianity. Some practicing Christians required Jesus Christ to be their “savior”. There is no substantial history of Jesus Christ outside of The New Testament.

Genesis 2:11-12 There’s especially good gold, pearls and precious stones. (Torah)

                                                   Gold                      Pearls                  Precious Stones

So what? Other than a monkey’s attraction to shiny objects, with no commercial / barter system in place, what’s the point?

Genesis 2:15 God placed man in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and take care for it. Catholic

First, in Genesis 1:28 God gave man dominion over the Earth. Now, man is confined to a garden and man hasn’t even sinned yet.

So obviously, God does change His mind! How can God be “omnipotent” (all knowing) and always in control if God changes His mind? Most believers demand that you believe that God never changes His mind and is the same from “The Alpha to the Omega”. Under what circumstance would a practicing Judeo-Christian-Islamic believer ever admit that he or she is wrong?

Rabbi Burton Visotsky PhD: God is alone in the Universe.

If God fills the Universe, how can God create anything? Is God afraid that if man is alone, he will think?

Some clergy, like Rabbi Visotsky, have claimed that God was alone and that lonely God created man. Due to God’s words “us” and “our” in Genesis 1:26 another myth refers to “The Sons of God”. Obviously, somebody is in error. If there were “The Sons of God”, then God was not alone before God was claimed to have created mankind. Later, Both Jesus and Satan were claimed to have existed since the beginning of creation. So, according to the overall Bible, God was not alone.

Gen 2:17 God said to Adam: In the day (KJV) on the day (Torah) in the moment (Catholic) you eat of the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil”, you shall surely die.

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?

Genesis 3:4 The Serpent said to the woman, Eve, you shall not surely die.

Genesis 5:5 Adam died at 930 years old.

Genesis 5:5 conflicts with Genesis 2:17 which documents: God said to Adam “in or on the day especially in the moment that you eat the forbidden fruit, you shall surely die.”

Did God lie when God said that Adam would “surely die” if he ate of the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil”? If the Serpent was more truthful than God, what does that say about God?

There was no “spiritual” death in the book of Genesis nor any other page in the Bible.

Genesis 3:14 God then put the Serpent on his belly for the rest of his days (finite life).

God told Adam: If you eat of the “Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil”, you shall surely die.

The Serpent told Eve she would not die.

God did lie to Adam. The Serpent told Eve the truth.

Would you remember it better if I shared this yet again?

Peter 2:3 may try to spin “in the day” claiming that one day for God is a thousand years, but he can’t spin “in the moment”. It is the Jewish Rabbi who needs to straighten out Christian clergy as to “God’s truth” within the words of the Old Testament, for the “Torah” (1st 5 books of the Old Testament) IS the book of the Jews.

Genesis 2:18-22 God wanted Adam to have a compatible helper, so God formed out of the ground various animals. Adam named each living thing and still found no helper. While asleep, God built what He took from the rib of Adam and made it into a woman.

So, God formed man from out of the ground before God formed animals from out of the ground. Man was made from the same dirt that animals were made from. That does not set man apart from animals any more than they are set apart from each other.

God made animals after God made Adam. Then God made woman from one of Adam’s ribs. Due to Chapters and Verses like this, many churches, even today, consider it sacrilege to espouse equal rights for women. What prejudice! What hypocrisy!

In one Bible story, God creates both Adam and Eve simultaneously in one act. That makes them equal. Later, in another story, God takes a rib from Adam to create Eve. Now, she is considered to be an inferior creature and a subordinate to Adam. The second story has Adam more divine than Eve because Adam was created first and was preferred by God. The second story is obviously inconsistent with the first story of Adam and Eve. Which story do you prefer? If you are male, and believe that you are superior to all women, you probably shouldn’t tell your mother, your sister, your girlfriend or your female boss.

Do you personally know anybody now who claims that a man is superior to a woman?

An old Joke: So, God asked Adam what he wanted in a mate. Adam said: Cook, clean and great sex. God said: That will cost you an arm and a leg. Adam asked: What can I get for a rib?

Sometimes jokes break the hypnotic tension.

Perspective: If Adam came from dirt, like the animals came from dirt, and Eve came from Adam’s living rib; then, didn’t Eve come from something more advanced than Adam? Note: Adam came from dirt. Eve came from a Human gene base. Ergo, which, the man or the woman, came from superior stock?

Was the creation of man and woman a response to some mental / emotional need inside God? Can God, a supposed “perfect” being, need? Concerning being a model for Human males and females, does God start out by proving to be “truthful, just and fair”?

What was God’s motive to create mankind?

Pastor Arnold Murray claims that there was a “First Earth Age” whereby Satan went bad and wanted God’s throne. 1/3rd of Heaven’s Angels followed Satan, not God. So, God created mankind for all those souls to live lives through. Then God would judge those souls’ worthiness for serving God for eternity.

Pastor Murray selected various Bible C&Vs to determine this scenario. It certainly is not a popular mainstream Bible dogma.

Genesis 2:19-21 God formed animals and birds from the ground. Adam gave them names.

This confirms that all animals came from the ground, not just mankind and that man originated on planet Earth and did not come from outer space.

Catholic Bible Note: In ancient Israel, a day was deemed to begin at sunset.

Does that sound crazy to you? Well, how about the fact that today, in the year 2004, our morning begins at 12 o’clock midnight. By nomenclature, how can “midnight” (the middle of the night) be morning? Our modern tradition is still nuts.

Genesis 2:25 They (Adam and Eve) were naked and not embarrassed by one another.

Genesis 3:1 The serpent was the most cunning of all animals. It asked questions of Eve.

Note: The Bible says “Serpent” – not “Satan”.

The question is the highest form of thought. Satan proves to be a thinker. Thinking brings learning and change. God probably doesn’t like that. Neither the Biblical God nor the Serpent are Human. How can these new Humans Beings, Adam or Eve, understand any language that God or the Serpent speaks?

Most fundamentalist Christian clergy insist that the Serpent in the Garden of Eden was Satan. They charge that Satan tempted Eve. Eve shared the forbidden fruit with Adam. This caused mankind to fall from the grace of God. This act of disobedience created sin. Due to this myth, many churches blame women for causing the “original sin” and this also made women the lesser, inferior and subordinate Human Being as traditionalized by man’s poor treatment of women throughout recorded history. The Judeo-Christian-Islamic religions have not projected their “One God of Abraham” to have treated women justly nor fairly.

I personally view that man is just another predator / animal that tends to be dominant and cruel to smaller, weaker and more ignorant animals. Men tend to kill and eat most of those animals. Men tend to often treat women authoritatively and cruelly simply because they can – as women do tend to be physically smaller and weaker. Enforceable modern laws have attempted to minimize modern men’s authoritative and cruel behavior towards women. Evolved, modern laws are certainly a positive progress from God’s Biblical guidance concerning man’s treatment of women. Unfortunately, proper enforcement of these laws is still sorely lacking.

Genesis 3:2-5 The serpent said: God knows that on the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be as gods, knowing good and evil.

God stated exactly the same thing in Genesis 3:22 confirming the Serpent’s integrity. It is still shocking to know but according to Bible C&V: God lied. The Serpent told the truth.

Mindset believers will argue and spin that “surely die” means a “spiritual” death. What else can they say other than they are wrong to believe that God couldn’t lie or deceive people. Ah, tomorrow, zealous, authoritative and mindset Christians will still sware on a Bible that God could never lie.

Old Testament Hebrews claimed that God did it all. There was no afterlife, no Heaven nor Hell, no savior. Again, their God did it all. Yes, Jesus Christ changed all that to create for Christianity.

Can The Biblical God Do All Things?
Really? Can God Die?

Genesis 3:9 And God called Adam, and said to him, where art thou?

God asked Adam where he was? Either God was ignorant and did not know where Adam was or God was deceptive by pretending not to know where Adam was. Did the Biblical writers create a God with Human qualities and limitations? Was Adam and Eve hardwired to understand language? What language did they speak? Did the “unchanging” Biblical God” allow that language to survive? What people speak that language today?

And, why are over 99% of all the creatures, that ever roamed the Earth, now extinct? What does that say about the Biblical God of creation?

God’s 1st Sin!

In Genesis 3:13 Eve had eaten the forbidden fruit and gave some to Adam. God asked Eve what she had done. Eve told God that the Serpent (Satan some claim) beguiled / tempted / enticed / moved (depending on the Bible version) Eve.

Didn’t Satan (by name) successfully move / tempt / beguile / entice the Biblical God in:

Job 2:3 God told Satan: You (Satan) moved / tempted / beguiled / enticed Me (God) against him (Job), to destroy him (Job), without cause.

Why would the Biblical God accuse Eve of “original sin” and then punish all of future Humanity for Eve’s “sin” when God, Himself, was also guilty of being successfully tempted / beguiled / moved / enticed by Satan? Satan successfully tempted God, by documented Bible C&V.  The Biblical God proved to be no stronger or less sinful than Eve – didn’t God?

Be honest, now. What does the Bible C&V document? How would you spin it differently? God being God is no legal, ethical or moral excuse.

The Order of Creation

written by

“The Thinking Atheist”

Genesis 1:11-12 & 1:26-27 Trees came before Adam.

Genesis 2:4-9 Trees came after Adam.

Genesis 1:20-21 & 26-27 Birds were created before Adam.

Genesis 2:7 & 2:19 Birds were created after Adam.

Genesis 1:24-27 Animals were created before Adam.

Genesis 2:7 & 2:19 Animals were created after Adam.

Genesis 1:26-27 Adam & Eve were created at the same time.

Genesis 2:7 and 2:21-22 Adam was created first, woman sometime later.

Can you honestly tell another Human Being that the Bible has no contradictions?

In Genesis 3:11-14 God questioned Adam. Adam snitched on Eve. Eve snitched on the Serpent. They all got punished.

It could have been worse, you say? God could have fulfilled His threat and killed them? What could be worse that condemning the Human species to be born into sin that will cause them “Eternal-Torment” pain and suffering for failing a scenario that God created – and already knew the outcome of?

Reflect. What could be worse than that?

If one of God’s measurable days is 1000 Earth years, God is not “eternal” because God is affected by time. If God is affected by a day, which is a measurement of time, then logic reasons that God is affected by time.

Some ancient Rabbinical comments: Women walk at the head of the funeral procession because woman brought death into the world. Why does a woman menstruate? Because she shed the blood of Adam. This is her punishment and why it is called “the curse”.

The Snake is an ancient figure of wisdom and immortality. It sheds its skin and is “born again”.

The Snake, today, is used prestigiously, in identifying the medical profession. A caduceus is the modern professional medical symbol that depicts the snake wrapped around a pole. It is the symbol of healing and wisdom.

Genesis 3:14 God said to the Serpent: On your belly you shall crawl all the days of your life.

Don’t some practicing Christians insist that the Serpent in the Garden of Eden was Satan? If so, why has Satan NOT been depicted to be on his belly throughout history? He hasn’t. Isn’t Satan depicted to look mostly like a man? If Satan has “powers” and can change shape – then, God’s punishment of putting Satan on his belly for the rest of his life had little effect on him. God’s integrity and power, by His own words, are diminished. Doesn’t “putting Satan on his belly for the rest of his life” also document that Satan has a limited lifespan? The Serpent in the Garder of Eden can NOT be Satan.

Genesis 3:16 God promised woman to multiply her sorrow for conception of her children and that she would be ruled over by her husband.

The Biblical God is specific about women’s subservient role to men. So much for God’s being “just and fair” concerning Human equality. Actually, here God promised childbirth pain for women and goodbye equality.

Later however, the Queen of Sheba, at the time of King Solomon, ruled over, of all things, an Arab country. Cleopatra, a Greek woman, was the last great Pharaoh of Egypt. Aren’t these inconsistencies in the Biblical God documented views of reality. Neither of these women were subordinate to men as God projected. Both powerful women had sex with powerful men for political purposes and advantages. What are these “models of virtue” teaching your daughters? Islamic women today are getting stoned to death for daring to drive cars. Did you know that Islam (the Muslims) worship the same One God of Abraham as do Jews and Christians?

Is the Biblical God the same one God for all time and for all people on planet Earth?

No. Atheists, who have broken their fear-based, authoritative indoctrination and religious hypnosis, certainly are living and breathing exceptions.

Genesis 3:17-19 To Adam, God said: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree I forbid you; the ground shall be cursed because of you. You will return to the ground from which you are taken; for you are dirt.

When God told Adam of his fate, does God mention any Afterlife – Heaven or Hell – Eternal-Torment? No. God claims often claims that “Dust to Dust” is the Human Being’s fate. You do know that Bible dogma claims that God does not change.

Don’t believe me or any other man. Instead of relying on clergy or others to inform you, read the controversial Bible C&Vs for yourself. Wisdom cannot be taught. You are the only thinker in your entire universe. You can only think and decide what is fact for yourself.

So, does the non-changing Biblical God remind you of a religious believer and / or a “conservative” Republican?

Genesis 3:20 Adam called his wife Eve because she was the mother of all the living.

Really! All the living? Eve is the mother of Crabs, Bats, worms and Viruses? Obviously, this is another erroneous Bible statement. Do you recall that 99% of all creatures that ever lived are now extinct.

Genesis 3:22 God said: Man has now become like one of us in knowing good and evil.

Remember in Genesis 3:4-5 The (talking) Serpent said to Eve: God knows that on the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be as gods who know good and evil.

This is the Biblical God’s C&V confirmation that the Serpent told the truth in Genesis 3:2-4.

Did the Serpent have Sex with Eve To Produce Cain?

Genesis 3:23 God said He (Adam) must be prevented from taking from the Tree of Life and living forever. God banished man from the Garden of Eden.

1 Timothy 2:14 Adam was not deceived. The woman (Eve) was deceived and transgressed.

If this “perfect” Biblical God gave Adam and Eve “free will”, then God did not know how His “perfect creation” would use it. That proves that the Biblical God does not know-it-all, and that God is not omnipotent. Also, how “free” is anything if there is a horrible price or consequence to pay?

“Free-will”? If just one Human Being on Earth truly has free-will, God is NOT in control.

If God never changes, God, Himself, has NO free-will.

And, there is that US thing again. God is showing this to other gods? So, if man eats from the Tree of Life and Knowledge, he not only gets smart, but he also gets the potential to live forever. That makes this Biblical God angry? Man gains judgment, without which he cannot make decisions, and God gets angry?

Conclusion: This “fruit” separated man from dumb animals and what appears beneficial to man obviously make this God angry. What’s so bad about distinguishing good from evil? Don’t you want your children to know good from evil, right from wrong? You would think that it was evil for who wants to stop you from knowing right from wrong, good from bad, but no. The Bible documents that it is the Biblical God who does not want Human Beings to know good from evil, right from wrong. Can you explain this to your child?

Did the “all knowing” Biblical God put the “evil” Serpent in the Garden of Eden with ignorant and innocent Adam and Eve? Then, did the Biblical God throw tantrums and punish them and all their future children for what God already knew Adam and Eve were going to do? Didn’t “know-it-all” God know that the Serpent would sabotage God’s plans, unless, in reality, that was God’s plan? If that was this “in charge” God’s plan, then Who proves to be EVIL? Did the Biblical God ever admit creating evil? Yes.

Doesn’t it take something imperfect to create something imperfect? Was God in fear of being judged good or evil? Was performing good and / or evil all the same to this God? Isn’t unauthorized knowledge like “National Security” considered evil by man just like it is by God? If this God should be evil, then, how would you know it unless you knew the difference between good and evil? Believers behave as if they do NOT know the difference between good & evil concerning the Biblical God. By not knowing the difference, could evil have its way with you? Notice how God gets hostile once the difference is known. Why? Was God’s intent for man to remain as dumb as the animals? Rather than question God, would you prefer to be as dumb as the animals? If so, why then get an education? Are kids who drop out of school just being “religiously correct”?

Dumb & Dumber

Questions for God

God, are You all-knowing?

God: Yes.

Did you create Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism?

God: Yes.

Which ones will make it into Heaven?

God: Only Christians.

So why did you create the others? Why condemn mankind if You knew that Adam & Eve would sin?

God answered: “As it is written, it is all for My pleasure.”

Bill Moyers wrote a great book titled “Genesis” containing perspectives by a mixed bag of world-famous religious experts. Some were selected here due to their views concerning the Bible and its God. The words are intrinsically important within their own contexts.

Get Bill Moyer’s awesome book: “Genesis”.

Quotes:

Was man alone? Was Eve presented to Adam to serve as his helper?

Does God put delicious, but “Forbidden Fruit”, in the middle of a garden? Then, does God create an “Evil Serpent” and place it near naive Adam and Eve? Is this a set up or what?

Does “The Serpent” ask the Bible’s first questions and initiate the first conversation?

So, are Adam and Eve not supposed to learn “The Knowledge of Good & Evil”?

Is it because wisdom belongs to God alone?

God makes a command Eve turns into an option. Eve is the one who makes it all happen.

Do these Bible stories teach us about God or about ourselves? If it is about God, then, what about God?

Did Eve get Adam in trouble? Could “sin”, introduced by a woman, be but a bum rap?

God didn’t want Adam and Eve to grow up like parents who don’t want their children to mature and become sexually aware. God is jealous.

The Bible sets it up that Adam either obeys God or the woman. Is one bad and one good?

Didn’t the Serpent, in essence, call God a liar? Did The Serpent prove God to be a liar?

Was God angry because God was disobeyed?

The Serpent can’t be right, for wouldn’t that make God wrong?

Did Eve trust the Serpent to tell the truth and not God?

Is the Bible’s first incident of trust, misplaced trust?

Why did God put forbidden fruit and the Serpent in the garden?

When God gave man choice, did He give man keys to vehicles that drive God nuts?

Why did this all-knowing God ask questions? Isn’t that more of an intelligent Human quality?

In ancient times, wasn’t the snake a symbol of fertility, wisdom and health?

Didn’t God introduce prohibition, limitation and boundaries?

Adam and Eve both denied, pointed the finger and covered up. Lessons God taught them.

Do believers even question how Eve was made from Adam’s rib?

Does God change His mood, shame His children and kick them out of the house?

What’s wrong if one knows that they are naked?

Does to be created in God’s image mean we are free to choose evil as well as good?

Was God insane and suffering from the beginning?

Genesis 4:1-2 Adam had sex with Eve. They beget Cain (1st) then Abel. (Twins)

Genesis 4:3-8 Cain brought a crop offering to God. God accepts Abel’s animal sacrifice and rejects Cain’s crop offering.

Hebrews 11:4 By faith, Abel offered to God a sacrifice greater than Cain’s.

Ok, whose idea was it to make the first offering to God? Cain, you say? Wow!

4:7 God said to Cain: If you do well, shall you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door.

Ah, “sin” is “not doing well” according to God.

Genesis 4:8 Cain couldn’t handle God’s rejection and killed Abel.

God Rejected Cain
Cain Killed Abel

Couldn’t the know-it-all Biblical God see this coming? Was it fair of God to reject Cain? Was it because Cain offered crops and did not sacrifice a living animal? Why did the Biblical God reject Cain’s gift?

First, in the Bible, Humans are disobedient. Next is an offering to God. Then, murder!

Genesis 4:9 God asked Cain: Where is Abel, your brother?

Again, either God was ignorant or deceptive.

Cain asked God: Am I my brother’s keeper?

God created Abel. Cain certainly did not create Abel. Was this God’s project / experiment or was it Cain’s? Why did God create Cain the way he was? How did Abel, by faith and God’s grace, make out? Was God’s will done? Didn’t innocent Abel get killed on God’s watch? How can God be considered to be the protector of the innocent? Did God make a mistake? What is God’s track record so far? Was this all for God’s pleasure? Do you know any authoritarians who will not admit to God’s mistakes, or to their own? If this “omnipotent” God has everything pre-ordained, did Cain have any choice in killing Abel?

In Hebrew “Abel” (Hevel) means nothingness or futility. Ouch! Abel, the innocent victim, is erased. Isn’t God instrumental in this story where someone becomes evil?

Note: Abel has no dialog, nothing to contribute, except his life. Cain is the star of the show. The Biblical God proves to be ignorant, mean, incompetent and just plain evil.

Was Abel the 1st sacrificial lamb to God? Didn’t God later reward the murderer, Cain, with a wife, and a city? Didn’t God make a Cain a promise of protection – which God later broke?

Myth: Romulus killed his brother Remus, yet Rome was named after Romulus. Why would Romulus, the murderer, be honored the city’s name and not his brother, Remus, the innocent victim?

The New Testament mentions Adam and Eve but the Hebrew scripture never again mentions Adam and Eve. Why? Wouldn’t you think that they would have had a more sacred status? Maybe they were never mentioned again because the later Jewish authors considered it to be all a fraud.

The Biblical God proves to be jealous of and punitive to all of the species He made. God proves to be deficient in understanding and low in tolerance. Is this an accurate picture of the Biblical God or not? Is this depiction of God the same image you carry within your heart or your head?

If Adam and Eve were not created to be immortal, how could you know?

Genesis 3:22 God asked: Now that man has become like one of us, knowing good from bad, what if he should eat from the tree of life and live forever?

Did God’s Creation prove to be imperfect?

Why would God question anything when God knows it all?

Did God say that man has become a God like one of us?

Did God want man to live forever?

Was it Jesus who later brought mankind Eternal Life so that He could send sinners into Eternal Torment?

God Allowed Satan To Tempt Eve To Temp Adam?

Genesis 5:1 God made man in His likeness.

If so, does this explained man’s immorality?

 Abraham

Sarah

Genesis 12:12-19 Abraham told his wife / half-sister Sarah to lie. Pharaoh said: Why did you say she is my sister so that I took her for my wife? Catholic.

Genesis 13:12-13 Abraham, God’s hero, tells his wife / half-sister Sarah to lie.

Genesis 13:19 Unlike the KJV, the Catholic version states that the Pharaoh said: I took her for my wife. Did Pharaoh have sex with Sarah? Idealistic believers would automatically insist no.

Under Hebrew law, a marriage is not a marriage, and a wife is not legally a wife unless the union is consummated by sex. Oh, what to believe! Did Pharaoh have sex with Sarah? Again, in the Catholic Bible, Pharaoh said: I took her for my wife. What would a religious fundamentalist say?

Genesis 13:2 Now, Abram was rich in livestock, silver and gold.

Was Abraham our first pimp? Did old, “Honest Abe” gain this wealth by being a con man and a pimp for his wife, Sarah? Do you think Abraham and Sarah would ever try this pimp-agenda again? It was profitable.

Genesis 16:1-10 Sarah gave to Abraham Hagar, her handmaid, for sex and children. Abraham had intercourse with Hagar who conceived Abraham’s son, Ishmael.

So Abraham, the swinger, had sex with Sarah’s servant, Hagar the Egyptian, with Sarah’s consent? Maybe Sarah, the swinger, did have sex with Pharaoh.

Pimping. Old Testament style. by Standard Girl.
Abraham / Hagar / Sarah: The Bible’s First Threesome?

Genesis 16:4-6 Abraham had sex with Hagar and made her pregnant. Pregnant Hagar looked with contempt on her mistress Sarah, so Sarah abused Hagar and Hagar left.

An Angel of God said to Hagar: Go back to your mistress and submit yourself to her abusive treatment. Catholic

God’s Angel told Hagar to go back to Sarah’s abuse.

How can an unchanging / pure / good / fair / just God possibly approve of Sarah’s abuse of Hagar? Is adultery conditional, by consent, in God’s eyes? Did Sarah, the mother of the Judeo-Christian religion abuse Hagar by female circumcision? How could a good / loving / sensitive / moral God send Hagar back for more abuse? Doesn’t God control His messengers / Angels?

Does God also show virtue by condoning Sarah’s assault / abuse of Hagar? Aren’t prisons full of righteous, God-like, Christian wife-abusers and child-beaters? Today, statistically, more women are murdered in the United States of America by domestic violence than by any other single means.

Azizah Y. Al-Hibri Ph.D.; Law professor, Islamic: One commentary says: Sarah was so mad at Hagar because of Abraham’s attention that she decided to mutilate her in some way to make her less interesting. And that’s how female-circumcision started.

Whoa! What? Really? Sarah! That is despicable! Sarah, are you really the mother of two main religions? Is mutilating a woman’s sex organs part of your Judeo-Christian ethic? If so, Sarah, shame on you – big time! Abraham and Hagar started, through the prophet, Mohammed, the Islamic religion by having Ishmael?

Azizah Y. Al-Hibri Ph.D.

Genesis 18:22 The Lord remained standing before Abraham.

Really? Face to face?

Exodus 33:20 God states: No man sees My face and lives.

Can this possibly qualify as a Bible contradiction?

Genesis 18:25 Abraham asked God about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra: Far be it from You to do such a thing, to make the innocent die with the guilty? Should not the judge of all the world act with justice?

Nah – God destroys them anyway. Did Abraham question the morality, fairness, and decency of God, and live? Did Abraham, like Moses did twice in Exodus 32:11-14 and Numbers 14:13-20, attempt to teach God morality?

Abraham and Moses both questioned God fairness and morality and seeing God lacking, actually tried to make corrections.

In Genesis 20 Abraham and Sarah, again, pass themselves off to King Abimelech as brother and sister. The same, pimp and hook, con job happens again. The King catches the con-game in time, yet he pays off Abraham with herds, gold, and land.

Shame on both Abraham and Sarah, the father and mother of the Judeo-Christian religions!

INCEST

God was against incest in Leviticus 18:6-18.

Many of God’s heroes were products of incest.

Genesis 2:21-22 Eve came from Adam.

Genesis 4:1 Adam impregnated Eve.

Genesis 20:12 Abraham had married his half-sister, Sarah. They had the same father and different mothers.

Genesis 19:30-35 Lot had sex with and impregnated his two (2) daughters.

Genesis 24:67 Isaac & Rebekah. Isaac is Abraham’s son. Rebekah is the granddaughter of Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

Exodus 6:20 Amram & his father’s sister, Jochebed were Moses’ parents.

2 Samuel 13 King David’s son Amnon had sex with his half-sister, Tamar.

Genesis 29 Jacob married and impregnated Rachel, daughter of his cousin, Laban. They were the parents of Joseph & Benjamin.

Jacob also married Rachael’s sister, Leah. They were parents of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun, Dinah.

Jacob had 2 concubines, Bilhah & Zilpah, who were half-sisters of Rachel & Leah. Bilhah had Dan & Naphtali. Zilpah had Gad & Asher.

The 12 Tribes of Israel were named after Jacob’s sons and grandsons: Asher, Dan, Ephraim, Gad, Issachar, Manasseh, Naphtali, Reuben, Simeon, Zebulun, Judah and Benjamin.

Of these 12 twelve tribes, only Judah and Benjamin survived. The 10 “lost tribes” were conquered and exiled by the King of Assyria in 721 BC.

Incest! Many of God’s main heroes: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his 12 tribes / sons, and later, Moses are products of or participated in incest. If the Biblical God was in control and incest was His preferred agenda to produce His heroes, how can God condemn incest in Leviticus? How can incest be illegal today – if God can’t be wrong?

Genesis 21:14 Abraham sent Hagar and Ishmael away.

Hagar & Ishmael

Does this also indicate that “Abraham was a dead-beat dad” to Ishmael?

Genesis 22:1-12 Abraham was stopped just short of murdering his own son, Isaac because God ordered it.

Does this also indicate that Abraham was a “dead-beat” dad?

What’s going on, Dad?
God wants me to sacrifice you.

God, I Am Really Pissed!

it is all for God’s pleasure

This is going to Hurt

Israelite Child Sacrifice

God Stopped Abraham’s Child Sacrifice

God Accepted Jephthah’s Child Sacrifice

God Sacrificed His Own Child, Jesus Christ

Genesis 22:23 God did tempt Abraham.

Did you think that was Satan’s job?

Catholic Recap: God promises Abraham, age 75, to be the father of nations. When Sarah is 76 she sends Hagar, her Egyptian handmaid, in to have sex with Abraham, then 86. Abraham consents to adultery which produces Ishmael – and about 4,000 years of war in the Middle East. Sarah hears God say that she will have a child and laughs at God’s words. She lies to God by denying it. Still, when Abraham is 100, God rewards Sarah, 90, for her role in His plan and gives her Isaac (which means laughter) whom Abraham almost sacrifices. After Isaac’s “called-off” sacrifice, never again is there any Biblical conversation between Isaac or Sarah and Abraham.

Some parents are horrified by this story of God’s child abuse. What is a dysfunctional family or a dysfunctional god? The Koran has scenarios whereby Abraham and Ishmael later built monuments together in Mecca.

Genesis 24:35 God gave Abraham male and female slaves.

Isn’t this Chapter and Verse evidence that the “good” Biblical God condones slavery? How can it not be? As long as one Bible exists, these controversial C&Vs won’t go away.

Genesis 25:1-6 After Sarah died, Abraham married Keturah and had 6 more sons. He had some other kids by some concubines.

Abraham, the old stud, died at 175 years of age.

Genesis 25:13-17 Ishmael had 12 sons who became 12 tribes.

Were the upcoming 12 tribes of Jacob / Israel but a counter to Ishmael’s 12 Arabic tribes?

Robert Alter Ph.D. Professor of Hebrew: The Biblical writers worked both sides of the street. That’s part of the greatness of the Bible. Ishmael’s, the “wild ass of a man” in Biblical poetry is probably a positive image.

Genesis 25:23 God answered (spoke to) Rebekah.

God does speak to women. So far God has spoken to Eve, Sarah and now Rebekah. Rabbis mostly discount women in the Bible.

Genesis 25:20-26 Isaac and Rebekah had twins, Jacob and Esau.

Genesis 25:28 Isaac loved Esau. Rebekah loved Jacob.

Malachi 1:3 / Romans 9:13 God said: I loved Jacob and I hated Esau.

Behold: God’s word is hated – not loved less.

Stephan Mitchell, writer, poet, Zen healer: God’s favoritism, from Cain & Abel onward causes great pain.

Genesis 25:31-33 Jacob got (bought or cheated for) Esau’s birthright. (About 1970 BC)

Q: Is Jacob another wholesome, moral God model? Jacob duped his father, Isaac, and stole his older brother Esau’s birthright. Jacob proves to be a thief, a liar and a con man. Don’t God’s heroes serve as models and show the impressionable that if you want something bad enough you lie, cheat and steal for it? Doesn’t it show that God will bless you for it, especially if your mom, whom God has talked to, is your accomplice?

Believer: None of these things would ever cross my mind.

Now that this is pointed out to you – does it register in your mind?

Believer: Na.

Bill Moyers: This is a story of a mother / son team of con-artists, who connive through trickery and deceit to cheat a blind man and his oldest son out of the family blessing.

Genesis 26:2 God spoke to Isaac.

Later, God spoke to Jacob.

“Hope” always has an anxiety with it and a sense of discontentment. If it were not for “hope” 90% of therapists and 100% of clergy would be out of business.

One’s “misery” is usually in direct proportion to one’s “expectation”.

Exposing all these controversial Biblical C&Vs settles nothing. It is what you personally think and feel about these C&Vs that settles things for you.

Genesis 26:7-13 Isaac lied to King Abimelech of the Philistines saying that his wife Rebekah was his sister.

Rebekah & Isaac

Just like Abraham and Sarah, Isaac did the: She’s my sister! She’s my wife con! Now, pay me off! God also made Isaac very rich. Was Isaac trying to be pimp number 2 like Abraham, his father, by God’s plan and consent? Did King Abimelech pay off Isaac like he paid off Abraham in Genesis 20?

Most parents don’t read these corrupt stories to their children because these stories tend to disturb both parent and child. Children tend to ask honest, point-blank questions. The parent may have to answer some sensitive questions concerning the Biblical God’s heroes’ ethics, fairness and morals that could prove awkward for all concerned.

When children hear these Biblical stories, most say innocently and accurately that God and His heroes were the bad guys. Is it when the children become parents that God is suddenly supported as the good guy? Why? Do parents tend to use God as an invisible supervisor and punisher on their children? Do children know right from wrong better than adults or does the God concept prove to be just an authoritative power-trip?

Note: The Old Testament Jews had no Satan, afterlife, Heaven, Hell nor salvation. Abraham’s “One God of Abraham” did it all. Some Jews started to write about Satan, afterlife, Heaven, Hell and salvation about 530 BC after being exposed and influenced by another religion, Zoroastrianism. Click on Zoroastrianism later.
Didn’t Abraham and Isaac both lie about their wives being their sisters? By these Kings taking their wives for sex, didn’t they both gain great wealth?

If your child did ask you what all this meant, what would you tell them?

Genesis 27:41-46 Esau bore a grudge for Jacob because Jacob got Esau’s birthright. He said: I will kill my brother. Jacob’s mother warned Jacob and sent him to her brother (uncle) Laban for safety – and to get a wife.

Uncle Laban gave Daughter Rachel to Cousin Jacob

Incest is best?

Genesis 28:1-2 Isaac said to Jacob: You shall not marry a Canaanite woman. Go choose a wife from among the daughters of your uncle Laban. Catholic

By Isaac saying this to his son Jacob, Isaac promoted incest.

God is Bible C&V documented to be against incest. Incest is just fine with these Biblical Heroes!

Why not a Canaanite woman? Doesn’t The Land of Canaan eventually become The Promised Land? Oh, that’s right. God’s “chosen” had to murder all of the men, women and children so to steal their land. Oops, an information leak of “God’s Evil Deeds!” Sorry.

Genesis 28:12-17 In a dream, Jacob saw a ladder with God’s Angels ascending and descending on it. He saw God above it Who told him that He was God and that He would be with Jacob. Jacob awoke, was afraid and said: Surely, this is The Lord’s Place. How dreadful is this place! This is the house of God, the gate of Heaven. KJV

What do you think of God’s hero who actually said that God’s house was dreadful?

Some prefer to hide behind nonsensical “faith” because the Bible’s, chapter and verse, facts are too painful for them.

Bill Moyers: For me, Jacob’s dream would be a nightmare. Knowing what happened to the people after they were chosen, I would say: Oh no! Not me! Take Esau!

Thank you Bill Moyers!

Genesis 28:22 Jacob vowed to God 10% back of what he gets from God.

Ah, Jacob provides the 2nd example, after Abraham, of paying regular, systematic, consistent and routine 10% tithes?

When God re-names Abram, Abraham, he always remains Abraham. When God re-names Jacob – Israel, God still calls him Jacob.

Israel:

Is = Isis / Ishtar (Gods)

Ra = Sun God

El = Elohim (God)

Is-Ra-El = Israel: Hmmm, interesting…

Genesis 29:10-11 Jacob met Rachel at a well and kissed her.

Jacob Kissed Rachel at the Well

Jacob marries his Uncle Laban’s 2 daughters, Leah and Rachel. Jacob preferred Rachel whose Biblical hero son was Joseph.

But guess what! Leah is the wife that Jesus Christ’s lineage came through with her son, Judah.

Now for the bad news. You are probably not going to like this: Judah paid Tamar, his daughter-in-law for sex and they perpetuated Jesus Christ’s sacred lineage / bloodline. That’s one of 2 sex workers is Jesus’ bloodline. Rahab-the-Harlot comes later.

Believer: Well, I never!!! I never heard of that!!! And how dare you write such a thing – even if it is true!!! I’ve never been so offended!!!

Hummm. Again, Jacob married his 4 cousins? That is incest. God commanded against incest.

In Exodus 2:15-21 Moses drove some men away for a well. Seven daughters told their father about him. Moses married Zipporah.

Zipporah means Ladybird. That sounds like President Lyndon Johnson’s wife’s name. Coincidence?

It seems, in the OT, the old well / watering-hole is a sure fired place to meet the ladies, but only if you take sex serious.

Genesis 29:9-30 Jacob’s uncle Laban had 2 daughters, Leah and Rachel. Leah was older with lovely (weak) eyes (Torah). Rachel was well-formed and beautiful. Jacob met cousin Rachel watering the herds and kissed her. Jacob fell in love with Rachel and offered to work 7 years for her. After 7 years, Jacob asked for her but Laban, her father, tricked Jacob and brought him Leah, his elder daughter. Jacob consummated their marriage by having sex with her. Jacob asked Laban: Why did you dupe me? It is Rachel I worked seven years for. Jacob’s uncle Laban explained the custom of marrying-off the oldest first and then offered Rachel, for another 7 years work. Jacob consummated (had sex with) Rachel also and began another seven years work.

Leah, Rachel, Laban & Jacob

Isn’t the “good-book” full of lies and deceit? How about God’s Biblical Heroes? Is the Bible truly a “good” and “moral” model for your children? Does the Bible and it’s God promote and protect mental health?

Genesis 29:31-35 God saw that Leah was unloved. He made her fruitful while the loved Rachel remained barren. Leah bore four (4) sons.

Leah later bore Jacob six (6) sons total.

Ah, the diabolical-mind and character of God. Would God have Rachel die in childbirth?

Note: For me, the Catholic “Easy-English” Bible is often easier to understand and clearer than the KJV. However, its content is, on occasion, one or more verses off the King James Version.

Genesis 30:1-17 Rachel was jealous of (her sister) Leah and gave to Jacob her handmaid, Bilhah. Jacob had sex with Bilhah and she conceived twice, both sons. When Leah saw she ceased to bear children, she gave Jacob her handmaid Zilpah and he had sex with her. She also conceived twice, 2 sons. Leah paid Rachel with mandrake, a fertility aphrodisiac, for an evening of sex with Jacob and she bore a 5th son.

Ah, Bible “Viagra” for God’s Biblical Heroes!

Torah Notes: Some say that Bilhah and Zilpah were sisters. Others say they were also Laban’s daughters. If factual, this makes them all blood relatives to our 40-year-old stud, Cousin Jacob.

What?

Yep! The Torah notes actually infers that all four (4) of Jacobs wives were daughters of Laban. If true, that’s pure cousin incest! God’s “chosen” 12 Hebrew tribes were all founded on incest!

Genesis 29:13-14. This is more evidence of Bible incest as was Sarah being the half-sister & wife of Abraham.

Genesis 30:18-19 Leah said: God has given me my reward for letting my husband have (sex with) my handmaid. Catholic

Wow! God rewarded Leah for letting her husband have sex with her handmaid. Oh, the sin! God rewards sin! Or, a wife letting her husband have sex with another woman is not sin in the Biblical God’s eyes. Which is it? Sarah suggested that Abraham have sex with Hagar, her handmaid. It runs in the family.

Leah then bore a 6th son.

What? Wow! The immorality! This must be misinterpreted! Oh, the sin! Kids, close your eyes!

Genesis 30:22-24 Then, Rachel bore her first son, Joseph (who goes on to control Egypt).

Is cousin Jacob (the stud) lucky or what? Through incest / inbreeding (if the Torah notes are correct) Jacob’s twelve sons become the 12 tribes of Israel. Righteous and healthy genetic roots, huh?

There was really no reason for inbreeding as there were plenty of people on planet Earth at that time. This Biblical God’s behavior displays some pretty kinky ideas.

Genesis 30:39-43 Jacob cheats his uncle Laban, father of his (2 or 4) wives, by herd selective breeding techniques and becomes a wealthy man.

Here is more C&V documentation that Jacob, the sacred father of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, was a liar and a cheat. How could a “perfect” God choose such people?

Genesis 31:19-20 Rachel stole her father’s golden idols (controversial, pagan stuff). Jacob, behind Laban’s back, secretly departs.

Were Rachel, Leah, Bilhah and Zilpah all pagans too? I doubt if Leah was as she was in Christ’s lineage.

Genesis 31:31-35 Jacob said: I left secretly because I was afraid. I thought you would take your daughters away from me by force. If you find your gods with anyone here, let him not live. Jacob had not realized that his favorite wife Rachel had stolen them from her father. Rachel sits on and hides her father Laban’s stolen stuff and says: I cannot rise in your presence. The woman’s period is upon me.

Biblical reference: A woman did not perform due to having her period. Jacob, the father of God’s 12 tribes is an incest bigamist. Jacob cheats his brother and, along with his mother, coned his father. Jacob cheats, then sneaks away from, his pagan uncle / father-in-law, Laban. Rachel, the mother of 2 of the future 12 tribes is, by documented evidence, a thief and a liar. Is this all ok and to be overlooked by God – or you?

Genesis 31:52 With hostile intent neither may I pass beyond this mount onto your territory, nor may you pass beyond it into mine.

From Genesis 31:52, I, Gary DeVaney, developed and wrote a perspective that I call “22 Acres”!

Genesis 32:8 Jacob fears meeting his brother Esau. He divides his holdings into two (2) companies; hoping, if confronted, he would not lose more than one (1) of them.

God chose Ishmael and Isaac, according to the Bible and the Koran. For over 4,000 years, Islam, and Hebrews (Arabs and Jews) have slaughtered each other throughout Earth’s history. Islam, later brought war on 9-11-2001 to the USA.

Why does “The One God / Allah” require a constant buffet of sacrifice, destruction and murder between them, especially if He is the one God / Allah and the one boss over both of them?

Genesis 32:24-29 Jacob wrestled a man… KJV

King James stated just one (1) time that Jacob wrestled a man, not an Angel nor a God. The Catholic version, Genesis 32:25-30, emphasized Jacob wrestled a man five (5) times and then it turns “the Angel” (a messenger of God) into God Himself. This is evident because Jacob stated in verse 31 that he had seen God face to face.

Genesis 32:30 Jacob said: I have seen God face to face and my life is preserved. KJV

Genesis 32:31 Jacob said: Because I have seen God face to face. Catholic

Genesis 33:10 Jacob said to Esau: I have seen thy face as though I had seen the face of God.

When Jacob gets excited, it seems that he sees God’s face everywhere.

Did Jacob Wrestle a man, an Angel or the Biblical God?

Contradiction: Exodus 33:20 states no one sees God’s face and lives.

Does anyone see a major contradiction here? Do you? How would you spin or discount it?

Jacob had lied earlier to his brother Esau.

Jacob deceived his father for his stolen birth-right.

Jacob lied to his uncle / father-in-law Laban.

Character investigators may view Jacob’s word and credibility to be a little shaky.

How do you view Jacob?

Bill Moyers: To wrestle is the embrace of adversaries, not love. A Jewish friend of mine said: I wish Jacob had lost because our people have paid a price far greater than that wound on the thigh. It isn’t worth it to have been chosen.

Bill Moyers

John Barth: Professor / writer: “But that’s to miss the other side of God, the terrifying side of God. I would like your picture of God to be like the God in the Bible, but as I read it, it’s only half the picture. The other half is that He is a mysterious, terrifying, wounding adversary against whom we all struggle. The God whom Jacob confronts terrifies him.”

Genesis 33:1-4 Jacob saw Esau approach with 400 men. He placed the handmaids with their children in front (to be slaughtered 1st) then, Leah and their sons next and behind them Rachel and Joseph. Jacob prostrated himself seven times as he approached his brother. Esau and Jacob just hugged and kissed.

Burt Visotzky: “Jacob puts the concubines and their children up front. He then puts Leah and her children behind them and Rachael and Joseph he keeps at the back. Then he actual cries out loud: If somebody’s got to go, let it be the front troops. We’ll save the guys in the back. How horrible it had to be for his sons to hear their father say: Ok, you guys in the front lines, you’re cannon fodder. If you die it’s not so terrible as long as the boys in the back are saved. The horror they must have felt.”

Genesis 34 Dinah, Jacob’s daughter, age 12, was raped by Shechem the Hivite. He fell in love and wanted to marry her. He, and his father, pleaded the matter of marrying her when Jacob’s sons became righteously indignant. They said that they would agree to the inter-marriage and forgive if all of Schechem’s men would get circumcised. They agreed and did get circumcised, and while they were in pain, Jacob’s sons and their men massacred Schechem, his father, every male and stole their wealth, flocks and made all their women and children captives.

Aren’t these God’s “chosen” models who became the “sacred” 12 tribes of Israel?

Genesis 35:9-10 God appeared to Jacob again and said: You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.

Then, in Genesis 35:14,15 & 20, the Bible immediately refers to Jacob again as Jacob. Why? Jacob is called Israel 3 times and then Biblical scripture reverts back to again calling him Jacob.

A proper English teacher would probably criticize the Bible’s content and continuity.

Then, Genesis 35:21-22 starts out with: “Israel” moved on. In Gen 37, he is referred to as “Israel”, then starting chapter 47 it’s back to “Jacob”.

What? Of course, it matters, due to the fact that God said: He would no longer be called “Jacob”. Why would the Biblical God fib?

The Biblical writers didn’t follow God’s direction, you say? It’s not important?

Then, at his death in Genesis 47:27-31, “Jacob” is suddenly “Israel” again.

Genesis 35:19-22 Rachel died in childbirth having Benjamin. Reuben, one of Jacob’s sons by Leah, had sex with Bilhah, one of Jacob’s concubines. When Jacob heard about it, he was greatly offended.

God takes Rachel, whom Jacob loved. Jacob suffered greatly. So, this is how God blesses His “chosen”.

But, don’t worry about Reuben’s transgression of having sex with one of Jacob’s women. God’s blind justice obviously peeks again.

Genesis 35:23-26 Jacob’s sons by Leah were: Reuben, Simon, Levi, Judah, Issachar and Zebulon; by Rachel were: Joseph and Benjamin; by Bilhah were: Dan and Naphtali; by Zilpah were: Gad and Asher.

The Family Tree of Israel’s 12 Tribes

So what – you say? So, these 12 model sons started the 12 Biblical tribes. What is strange is Joseph did not become a tribe. Ephraim and Manasseh, Joseph’s sons by an Egyptian mother, became tribes. Why?

Perspective for debate: Mostly, how we were created and behave is promoted by our genes. Our behaviors are altered by reward and punishment (the tools of dog training) by those who raise, educate and assume authority over us. The need to “believe” is mostly a need to “obey”. Individuality seems to be instinctive in the genes. No psychiatrist nor brain surgeon has ever located, within the brain, where the sub-conscious mind / ego resides. The sub-conscious mind / ego has to function in relation to the genes. As adults, can we change or re-program our genes? If we stick to stubborn “belief”, won’t we remain unlearned, or the way we are? Thinking brings change. Only if we dare to think and grow, can we make decisions to change and better our lives. An unchanging ego, like the unchanging Biblical God, just can’t be wrong.

Isn’t questioning, searching for, finding and acknowledging facts better than living a lie?

Joseph

Genesis 37: Joseph, Jacob’s and Rachel’s oldest son, was hated by his brothers because he told them that in his dreams the brothers knelt down to him, and he ruled them. They plotted to kill Joseph. Instead, they sold Joseph (age 17) to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. They, in turn, sold him to Potiphar, The Pharaoh’s steward. (About 1870 BC)

Jacob deceived his father, Isaac, with a fur skin pretending he was his brother Esau. Jacob was deceived with a bloody coat by his sons saying his son Joseph was dead. What irony.

Genesis 41:45 & 46:19 Joseph marries Asenath, an Egyptian woman, and has two (2) sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

Again, didn’t Ephraim become the biggest of the 12 tribes? Why did that tribe carry the name Ephraim, Joseph’s son who is half-Egyptian, instead of being called the tribe of Joseph? Wasn’t marrying a pagan Egyptian a sin for a “God-chosen” Israelite? Manasseh also had his own tribe.

Seyyed Hossein Nasr, PhD. Islamic Professor: The Qur’an speaks of Joseph as a prophet of great beauty, and the love between Joseph and Zulaykha, another great beauty, who is Potiphar’s wife. In the Islamic world many women are called Zulaykha. She is a heroine. Persian miniatures depict the love of Joseph and Zulaykha. She is a major romantic hero in Islamic literature. When Muslim women get married, they open the Qur’an to the story of Joseph.

They have a love never realized on the human plane but represents the intensity of the attraction.

Rabbi Burton Visotski: Joseph is 17 years old. He is very attractive to men and women alike and he knows how to use this beauty. He knows the full heat of a seventeen-year-old. How could he have resisted the charms of Potiphar’s wife. He’s damned if he does and he’s damned if he doesn’t. She is his boss. He is her slave. And she commands him to lie (have sex) with her. Maybe for the first time in his life he’s faced with a delicious choice and goes to jail for saying no. He is so sexually ambiguous that he appeals to both men and women. Like women, he is the one who gets caught in the trap.

Doesn’t Rabbi Visotski infer here that men are attracted to Joseph because of how Joseph looked and acted? What could the Holy Bible and Rabbi Visotski both be inferring here? Hummm…

Francisco O. Garcia – Treto, Ph.D. Minister: God does not appear in the story of Joseph as a character. I have to deal with the Joseph story and the Bible. It’s part of my tradition.

Phyllis Trible, PhD. Writer: The Bible is not a sanitized book. It does not have a single point of view. It comes to us full of conflicts and contradictions and problems. A text may one day be the word of God and another day it may not be the word of God.

Rabbi Burt Visotzky: The words don’t change. They’re always the same words, whether it’s Genesis or Deuteronomy. What changes is the way we read.

Bill Moyers asked Rabbi Visotzky: How do you read this and find God in it?

The Pharaoh of Joseph’s time seems like a nice guy. Did the relationship with the Jews turn the Pharaoh about Moses’ time 400 years later into a mean guy? Other than Joseph, didn’t the Jewish experience and their God turned out to be disastrous for Egypt?

Genesis 38:9-10 Onan, when he had sex with his brother’s widow, would waste his seed on the ground. What he did greatly offended God, so, God murdered him. KJV

Was it masturbation or the birth control that offended God? What? Both, you say?

Genesis 38:15-18 Judah saw Tamar and not realizing she was his daughter-in-law, asked to have sex with her. She replied: What will you pay me for letting you have sex with me? He pledged payment, and got her pregnant.

Judah paid Tamar for Sex

What kind of models has the “Holy” Bible given boys and girls over the generations?

Genesis 38:24-27 Judah was going to have Tamar burned for adultery until he found out the kid(s) were his. She (Tamar) conceived twins.

What hypocrisy! What would he have done if these twins were not his?

Tamar sold sex to Judah. Tamar proved to be at least a one-time hooker. Tamar, through her son Perez, was in King David’s and Jesus Christ’s lineage and bloodline?

Believer: What?

Sorry, don’t miss Hagar-the-Harlot. She also was in King David’s & Jesus Christ’s bloodline, lineage.

Morality check: Some object to taking issue with the Biblical God or God’s “heroes”. This Bible project takes issue with the evil and controversial C&Vs written in the Bible. Would you knowingly protect evil out of fear?

Genesis 39: Where Joseph stayed in Egypt, the Potiphar’s wife, Zalikhah, kept after him to have sex with her. He refused her and she told her master (husband) he tried to rape her. Potiphar threw Joseph in jail.

Islamic women, who are getting married, especially value this story?

Genesis 40-43 Joseph successfully interpreted some dreams with prison cellmates. One got out. Two years later the Pharaoh complained of bad dreams. Joseph’s former cellmate told the Pharaoh about Joseph and Joseph foretold the future of Egypt for Pharaoh. Pharaoh made Joseph the Governor of the country in charge of the grain, and food. Jacob sent Joseph’s eleven brothers, minus Benjamin, to Pharaoh to buy grain. Joseph recognized his brothers bowing before him. The brothers did not recognize Joseph. He called them spies and then threw them in jail for three days. Joseph kept one brother, Simon, in jail, and sent the rest of his brothers back to their father with full grain sacks and all their money. Jacob said: (42:36) Why must such things always happen to me? They took gifts, their brother Benjamin, double the money and went back to Joseph. Joseph invited them for dinner but did not sit with them. Egyptians may not eat with Hebrews; it is abhorrent to them.

Genesis 44-50: Joseph sent them all back with sacks full of grain, all their money and his silver cup. They were stopped and accused of stealing the cup. Emotions rise! Joseph comes clean and exposes who he really is and they are all one happy family. Joseph sends for the whole family to move to Egypt.

The 12 Tribes Of Israel

The 12 named tribes of Israel are: Reuben, Simeon, Dan, Levi, Judah, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulon, Manasseh and Benjamin.

Question: What happened to the tribe of Joseph? His tribe is named after his son Manasseh, but the biggest tribe of Ephraim is missing. Why? Some inquiring minds want to know.

Genesis 47:27-31 Jacob requests a pledge of loyalty by having Joseph put his hand under his thigh (hold Jacob’s testicles in his hand) while swearing an oath.

The Tradition of Squeezing Testicles to Swear an Oath

So, apparently it is a tradition that one Israelite man would hold another Israelite man’s “balls” in his hand while swearing an oath. Wow! I’m glad that tradition never caught on.

This holding of testicles is also where the word “testify” comes from.

Torah Notes: Jacob’s family of about 70, comes to Egypt, builds over 400 years into a total population estimated to be between 2 to 3 million people – which Moses took out of Egypt. Actually, about 1 million were of other races and nationalities. Many were black Africans who joined in with the Hebrews.

This becomes Moses’ Exodus from Egypt. Their God promised them “A Promised Land” flowing with milk and honey. What could God have in mind for them? Peace? Harmony? Na, God kills most of “His Chosen” by ordered them to murder foreign cities full of men, women and children. God did this to steal their “Promised Land”.

Excerpts from Time Magazine, October 28, 1996:

Rabbi Burton Visotzky PhD used to think of God’s Biblical guys as heroes. He was an expert on the Torah. But by going through a divorce, he experienced a religious crisis: As he read the Torah aloud in temple, he saw Abraham and his wife bickering and acting appalling toward their children. The blinders fell off. He said: This dysfunctional family was my family in every way.

Rabbi Visotzky: “Abraham allows Sarah, his wife, to be taken into Pharaoh’s harem both to ensure the couple safe passage through Egypt and so all may go well with me.”

“Abraham got rich with Pharoah and did it again later. He’s an incest practicing pimp!”

G: Wow! Rabbi, you’ve got balls!

Rabbi Visotzky: “Sarah, who is barren, offers her slave, Hagar, to Abraham as a surrogate mother, but when Hagar gets pregnant, Sarah becomes jealous and abuses her.”

“Lot has sex with his daughters.”

Genesis 34:5-7 Jacob, enraged at the rape of his daughter, talked a group of men into being circumcised and then murders them.

Much of this is unpunished by God and seems to fulfill God’s purposes.

Here is an honest and courageous Rabbi with top credentials, exposing God’s Biblical models as being dysfunctional. Sometimes, I don’t feel so all alone.

A medieval Rabbi, borrowing from the image of the story of Noah’s drunken disarray in (Genesis 9:21), suggested that: “As dutiful children, let us cover the nakedness of our fathers in a cloak of favorable interpretation”.

Is this why believers cover-up God’s deeds?

Karen Armstrong, author / former nun: “God (in Genesis flood) is an undeveloped child. He has got to grow up and learn like the rest of us how to relate to other people”.         (From Bill Moyer’s great book: Genesis.)

Karen Armstrong: “God is not some nice, cozy daddy in the sky. He is behaving in an evil way, introducing mankind to justifiable genocide. Noah, a damaged survivor, says no word about those drowning around him, much less tries to help them.” (Time Magazine.)

God is in the Sky?

Q: So, what need is there for any Satan or Devil except as a scapegoat for God?

Some do profess: God’s logic is impeccable – man’s understanding is wanting.

Settle the issue for yourself. Study your Bible for yourself, chapter & verse.

Conflicting dogmas: Man is inherently sinful. God created man in His own image.

Saint Jerome, who translated “the word” from Hebrew into Latin grumbled that many of the narratives were rude and repellent.

Samuel Proctor: Baptist Minister / Professor: “Many preachers are intimidated about discussing these things. There is nothing risked. God is God. We don’t need ignorance out there protecting God. The point is that humans can use their freedom in such a way as to make God sick and tired. God said (concerning the flood): “It grieves my heart. Bam! We’re going to start all over again”.

Rev. Roberta Hestenes: “This is a story in which the major player is God, not just the human participants.”

Jack Miles, author of God, A Biography: “Much of what the Bible says about God is rarely preached from the pulpit because, examined too closely, it becomes a scandal”.

Azizah Y. Al-Hibri Islamic-law expert: “In the Koran, it is Ishmael, not Isaac, who Abraham offered up as a sacrifice. Ishmael said very clearly to Abraham: Father do it, because we’re doing it for God”. Finis: Time Magazine.

Seyyed Hossein Nasr provides a contradiction: The Qur’an does not mention the name of the son of Abraham offered for sacrifice. Later Qur’anic religious authorities gravitated toward Ishmael.
